Was mowing the lawn yesterday with the zero-turn when I noticed the woodchuck who has taken up residence under the barn floor was outside about 20 feet from his burrow. I turned the mower and aimed right at him, he surprisingly did not move at all (like a deer in headlights) and I drove right over him. It was over in less than a second.
Anyone else had a similar experience? These things are notoriously skittish, and take off for cover at sometimes the slightest sound. I wouldn’t have believed it if an hadn’t done it myself. |

Never had that happen. Brutal way to go though. Probably a little messy under the deck?

Must have been something wrong with that Woodchuck or he was a suicide! They can be hit crossing the road. Never seen only a young one get killed close to a burrow..22/250,.223.243 or 6.5 Creedmoor can kill them most anywhere!

All ya gotta do is get between him and his hole and he goes blank. It's a union thing between him and his escape planners.
