Afternoon AC Team! Anyone know for sure if the AC D14 Tractors were originally equipped with 6 gauge battery cables. My old D14 needs some attention on the battery cables and am looking to replace them with the diameter wire that was original equipment.
I just replaced cables on the 715 loader backhoe and those had 1/0 cable. Am thinking the 6 gauge copper is too small. Thanks in Advance for any guidance/input! Respectfully ~ Orangeman

6 gauge is too small.......... 2 gauge is OK for 12 volts... if you have 6 volts, you need bigger.

When it comes to battery cables, I always go bigger. For a 6 volt, go much bigger.

I like using heavy welding cable when I make any cables. They are more flexible and I think the finer strands carry the current load better

Thank you all for the excellent input. The tractor has been converted to 12 volt and has a GM alternator on it. ~ Orangeman

Over doing it for sure but I use 1/0 regardless if 6 or 12v. Starter spins over so much faster.

Just to close this topic out - I went with 1/0 cables from this place.
https://www.batterycablesusa.com/checkout_one.asp ; I have no affiliation with them but will note the service is excellent and the website is easy to use and intuitive. Thanks much to all the AC Team contributors and folks that responded. ~ Respectfully, Orangeman
