My wife's cooking never tasted so good
No honey, I did not change her diaper. She smells perfectly fine to me. You say your parents dropped their plans to visit this weekend? Edited by plummerscarin - 12 Oct 2021 at 6:30pm |

Well, my wife is in a stretch of 9 straight 12+ hour shifts......would love to have some of her cooking. Guess the upside is her paycheck though. But I miss her.

12 hr shifts ain’t all that bad. Ask anybody that still is in the dairy business.
There were more than one day I wished we could’ve been done in 12 hrs. |

Did you get to eat a lunch? How many people do they see die in their care per year? How many times did people come in questioning/arguing every move they make? How many times did other people come in, swear at you, call you every name in the book, even take swings at you? I got a pretty good feel for both jobs.

hours per day depends on the job... Some jobs are not too bad working 12 hours... Others are much worse working 6 or 8.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Aside from all the other noise, how are you and the spousal unit doing?

Asking me, I assume. . .We are doing OK for now. My wife is a hard working farm girl, she knows what it's all about believe it or not. To anyone who thought I posted "looking for sympathy", well you read it all wrong if you did. I was making what I intended to be an amused remark on enjoying one's wife's cooking. Then, well, maybe I took Lars's comment wrong, but. . . I had a medical test done 10/4. Technician, nice girl of ~35-40, told me I could take my mask off it was OK with me. I said it would be good for the test. Conversation led from one thing to another, she told me she has bee called a C***, B****, RE****** Wh***, slapped, spit on, all usually dealing with "covid protocols". The poor lady is just trying to do her job. Yeah, people are great. I'll take 12 hours in the field and with my cows, thanks. And thank you for asking Mo.

I'm not the sharpest marble in the sack, but I can't imagine any situation where I would be berating anyone who has hands on say in the outcome of my health. I want them on my side. Past year has brought out some of the best......and worst......in a lot of people.

No harm, no foul Tbone. I know it can be a challenge to interpret inflection on typed words on a screen.

I merely wanted to lighten up a little. Wife’s cooking is quite good and miss enjoying it. Although she did cook something the other night that I normally like but could tell visually it did not have the usual stuff in as we are not shopping as much due to quarantine. So it was missing a number of items but I couldn’t taste the difference. Which prompted the subject.
Generally, we’re fine. The worst was the overwhelming feeling of tired. I had no symptoms that triggered the usual alarms for COVID. Until day four it could have been anything from a mild cold or flu bug which I have dealt with before. When I lost taste and smell, then I knew. Day6,Monday, was the day I felt worst as couldn’t stand to take a shower. Called in sick. Next day, wife called in sick. We both went in for assessment. We both test positive. Got my doctors excuse and stayed home all week. Managed mild fever (less than 100)with ibuprofen. Cough suppressant ineffective. Had bouts of extreme coughing that would come and go. My wife had even fewer issues. She is vaccinated. Felt bad enough to call in sick one day. Had occasional headache. Did lose taste and smell also, but generally managed better than I did. Will return to work tomorrow. So we’re nearly back to normal with the exception of not knowing if the milk is bad or if the dog had another run in with a skunk. Daughter (RN) says may take a month for those senses to return. For those who have not fared as well, our sympathies and prayers for a complete recovery or well… Sorry only one other person got the joke |

Plummer, I either forgot or did not realize that you and your wife have covid, I thought your post was just a few little jokes strung together! (so, I got 'em, but . . .)
And then to top things off, Mo was asking you, and I thought he was asking me about the wife and the long hours....... I'm a total idiot. I will crawl back in my hole, and lock the door behind me, and, there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Good you guys did ok with it. Hopefully you're on the total upswing. My daughter was in the group of us that had it in March/ April, and she still does not have a sense of smell. But anyway, good luck for continued recovery.....and I'm outta here. |

12’s are just a starter. Done many years of 12 hours shifts. From April till end of October very common to spend another 4-5 hours on a tractor after or before working 12s. Someone calls in sick it’s a 18 hour shift.
