A former neighbor friend in the Midwest plans selling his 1978 Diesel 185 with FELoader. His occupation was local area power company; he only 'hobby farmed' his small nearby farm a couple years. He always had a few cattle. Conclusion; I am quite sure the tractor is 'like new'. He maintains their car and pickup in exceptional condition. He asked me for a decent selling price. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Herb(GA) |

Pictures, hours would be very helpful, running condition? If its a original shedded 185 with low hours they fetch a big price. Need more info in order to give you an opinion

Probably 20 years ago now, my Granddad sold his 185 that had been converted to gas using all allis parts off of a combine engine. He had a almost new farmhand loader, with grapple, on it, but were sold seperately. If I recall the tractor itself brought $4500 and the loader brought $4500-as I said they were bid on seperately. I realize that is a long time ago, but might be helpful.

In my neck of the woods a good 185 will bring 5,000 to 6,500, I have seen a couple that had been restored go for close to 10,000 but those two where really sharp.

I see them go for 3-12k here, good ones are becoming hard to find and fetch top dollar at auction. Hours, rubber, sheet metal, wear, options, are all factors.

If you're not interested in buying it, I would be. I've been looking for a 185 (or similar size A-C), with a FEL. Please let me know if it's available and details/photos. Thanks.

After reading your description of the 185 A-C there are a number of other things to take inconsideration. If mechanically sound I think it’s a solid $5500

I have a 185D with A-C 500 loader. If your friend's is in exceptional shape & has low hours it might bring $7500. Or more. Condition is key.
