I'm trying to adjust the transmission brake on my black belly 7000 (S/N 8572).
Service manual says set the brake spring to 2" +- at full clutch engagement.
My trans. brake spring is over 4" long and couldn't physically compress that much.
According to agco parts, there's an update kit.
Do I have to get the update kit to get my brake to work correctly or is there an adjustment procedure for the longer spring style???

Also, are there any good AGCO dealers that ship parts??

Good heavens you don’t appear to be that far from Marshalltown. Central Iowa Farm store at one time was a big player call them.  Nothing else I know for a fact Williams’s in Charlotte mi ships I know one of the owners well.

In the end, you want the big long updated spring to compress 1/4" when the clutch pedal is depressed all the way down to the stop bolt on the pedal. You can easily see this at the front of the spring on the rods sliding sleeve. So, if the spring isn't compressing 1/4" you move the front nuts forward enough until it does and then tighten the rear nuts the same amount as the front nuts to put the spring back to the proper length. You have the updated parts already.
