Not really Steve, just my hoist is rated for the weight but the A-frame is home made, engineer said is good to go HOWEVER could not sign that off. That and it is only high enough(10' under beam) to raise the block no head or to raise the head with the block installed.

Back on small stuff, all trans bolts done, torque spring across trans and looking at a wiring issue L Frame Rail. Got a mass of small stuff cleaned, prepped and repainted then set to the block, pistons and rods next then the head work get MORE off the floor. bits and pieces nearly everywhere still need attention just doing as can get at. Engine harness was NOS, need to Re-end the three main pressure senor connectors from M-F to correct for later series sensor short harness connectors. Have that kit already.

Just a filter, no anti-corrosion materials.
Busy morning, got engine harness connectors corrected to application then set piston/rods, again New Bolts Shells torqued and torque turned, new piston cooler jets and stopped for the day. Next up finish Bottom End, pump, bracing, tubes maybe pan then move to Head. Edited by DMiller - 16 Jan 2022 at 1:27pm |

Too cold to do anything Dirt Rock or just manage hauling so day off yesterday and today. Be off again Tomorrow so making hay as Sun Shines or Lack thereof.
Cam is in Time, backlash set. Rocker Arms and engine brake units set and intermediate valve cover after mods is set, will have to fit a blank to the open port as now will be unused. Cleaned up Alternator and AC mount reinstalled, finished install of T-stat housing. Most lines, cables and hoses are connected, with support brackets reinstalled, be a few odd more to finish up tomorrow along with some wiring repair on L Frame Rail. Will run the overhead partially button up the top so can paint off the pieces shown, will install oil pan and engine oil then be back to the waiting game. Awaiting Turbo gaskets and seal o-rings, along with the radiator being recored that may not be doe until next week. With Fuel Injectors in can now prime the fuel system, do need to construct a few small brackets for Fuel Lines at tanks and for a Brake Valve at front drive as well the cover plate to Blank off the wiring port. Turbo pieces arrive can Pressure Lube engine AGAIN, then await Radiator reinstall for a next try Start. Intermediate Valve Cover had positions for the old IVA system, it is NOW Completely GONE internally. |

Radiator shop called at 10:45 yesterday, I was in my truck and BACK by 1:45. Radiator is at least sitting on mounts in frame. Upgraded from 3 to 4 row, air charge cooler in background checked fine, got a good cleaning and paint.
Overhead has been ran, all except two under cover wires that need be extended is done, need to clean and prep for paint on the valve covers themselves and construct that blank off cover plate. Oil pan goes on today then awaiting the Turbo gaskets and o-rings from Momentum Worx and can start it!!

On to other parts on this, Developed a fuel leak at the Fuel tank Cross return valve, not hard to change just messy, need to make a support bracket for the lines at the back of the cab as well. Then on to brakes, chambers, drums, axle seals and the rear air suspension parts I already have. Lighting and connector repairs/replacements and stripping a large part of cab accessories for prep/paint.

Had the drive end brakes delivered Monday, have two that are rusted enough Hang Applied so hard to maneuver the machine even on its own power, really want to inspect bearings been sitting forever and change hub lubes. Maxi Brake chambers come as a sealed assembly anymore, all too many wrench benders took them for granted and got hurt by them so I will replace all four with new, just less expense as well time. Single diaphragms are for the steer, stop boxes have all the pins, springs and rollers with shoes. Drums are outboard and cheaper to throw away than turn them.
Had a bit of a scare yesterday, been feeling 'Off' and sinus went to heavy draining, distinct phlegmy cough then body aches near to as bad as after the second Vax shot so went in for a COVID test, should know back late today or tomorrow. Doubt is CV19 but wife would not hear 'NO'.

Lucky you got them. Shoes and drums are on that ever increasing list of stuff that is "hard to get"

Kid at MHC KW called me when airbags got scarce, I got a full set awaiting install. Stated Monday had over 200 Stop boxes between CoMO and KC, could not tell of Joplin. Drums he had 66 in stock.

Some of this stuff is getting ridiculous. ISX fuel filter, I am out, been out for a while. Ive had them on order since 10/2021. They are saying mid year before I will see them. Sub zero temps in the great white north is not the time to be out of fuel filters.
I am out group 31 batteries. Be a month before I will see them

Group 31s here plentiful same for any filter kits on Cumaparts, is DD13 and 15 engine filters hard to scrape up where the shop I run out of has kept a inventory expecting this. They order Cummins as need keeping only a few on shelf as are so easy to get.

For Kansas99, as to Chambers, in the photo it was less expensive and from a dealer than from a parts house to buy Complete chambers down to pushrods than buy a piggyback unit a clamp and service side diaphragm. The four in the photo were $54 apiece and are 3030 maxis. Damned near cannot replace brakes on my F250SD for what paid for stop boxes and drums. Drums were fairly high at $104 each, Stop Boxes $53 each exchange.
