1953 B that has been “neglected” a bit while life got in the way. Finally getting to it.
Before cleaning the carb out, which it needs, I drained the engine oil and installed a new oil filter. Went to add the new oil and the breather cap appears to be frozen in place. I tried WD-40, a hammer, small oil filter wrench etc. but this thing is not budging. I am thinking I will need to remove the valve cover and hammer the cap from the underside. Do you guys have any other suggestions for getting the breather cap freed up?

kinda what I am thinking. I guess I should order the new breather cap now, since it may not survive the “removal process.”

Rob,
Yes it is probably rusted in place. Removing the valve cover and trying to tap it out upside down sounds like it might work too! Post some pictures. Regards, Chris

Use a strap wrench on it. Turn it back and forth as much as possible to loosen things up. if that fails, twist it off any way you can and replace it.
