Guess it keeps the tractor clean!! ---- YA the wet years are a real pain. We had one here in the late 60's and I know what you are going thru! Hope 2019 treats you better!

Charlie, I made fun of you at the beginning of the parade for the umbrella. You got the last laugh half way thru since I didn’t have one.
We had over 61 inches of rain in 2018, most since 1889. Talking about hard to make hay or any other crop. It was a terrible year. This is suppose to be the first weekend since August 2018 that there is no rain forecasted on a Saturday or Sunday. Surprised that every weekend wasn’t a wash out. It sure seamed like it, rode my Harley very little last year. Hay prices are at a premium because of the bad weather.

Was wet down here also. We had over 70 inches last year. Thus far in January we have had 7 inches. PS: This is rain, no snow. LOL

Here in KY we average around 45" per year.
In 2018, by mid Dec some places had recorded 85".
Very little flooding, just a slow rain 4-5 days a week, all year.
By mid to late summer, the ground had stayed so wet for so long, that the grass in the hay fields stop growing.
No O2 in the ground and all the fertilizes had leach out.

Carbon copy in NJ last year. Couldn't get a darn thing done except mow the lawn constantly. Went through more fuel through the mowers in 2018 than I ever did... Steve@B&B

Heard on the Charlottesville News that up at Montibello on the Blue Ridge they recorded
over 100 inches of rain for 2018.

Locally - NOT the whole state or region - we've had well-above average precipitation (snow and rain) since October, 2006. We got more than 14 inches of rain that month alone. We usually get around 3 for October, but most years that figure includes the water from a snow storm or two. Right up until early June this year, lasting maybe 5 weeks of normal precipitation, then right back to waaaaay too much. It. Just. Can't. STOP!!! I've come to look at it this way: Ma Nature is like a humongous Saint Bernard (female, of course!!!) covering North America, her tail end over California and her incessantly drooling maw over upstate NY. And she never moves... oh, how I wish she'd move... We've NEVER needed this much rain/snow. NEVER. We'd be so much better with about 1/4 the precip we get. Thanks to the Great Lakes upwind from us, mostly. Can't change that. She won't move, and we won't move - she wins. She always wins. Taking on Ma Nature as a business partner guarantees there'll be no guarantees. Ever. It's a wild ride. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

2018 was a very wet year here too in New Zealand even the first part of summer hard to make hay but it has all changed with temperature set to hit 32c to 28c all week not the easiest conditions to try and farm in but that’s life

Trees are actually dying due to root rot. One of our hay fields needs to be replanted due to low spots killed by standing water.
