 Topic: Wd45 loader plumbing

Hey all. I'm thinking I'd like to put in a selector valve so I can control either the loader or the rockshaft at one time, without them ever fighting each other. Am I barking up the right tree with capping two outputs of the hold position valve like so?

You want your selector valve connected to either of the other two ports, not the one you have chosen. If you do it your way, you will not have "HOLD" position.

This is how I did mine. I like it so I can change it from the sear. Just use a valve that is rated for the high pressure. uploads/375/P1010112.JPG

Thanks mdm, I was thinking of something similar, though my idea was to put the selector in front of the battery & make a linkage rod to switch it from the seat. Probably off to the right of the starter pull rod

That's what I did on a WD. Mounted the Diverter Valve on a flat plate and bolted the plate to the R/H side frame rail. Installed a push / pull rod to the valve.
I think it was a B starter rod.

Excellent! The nice thing about Reinventing the wheel as you know it'll probably roll.
So, on the hold position valve... Am I interpreting this correctly that I need to plumb this off of a rock shaft port and not the remote port?

Two of the three ports are under the control of the HOLD valve. The one you have chosen is not, so HOLD will not work. It has either raise or lower.

Oh, I see where I'm off. I have the remote and rockshaft ports reversed on my drawing. The remote port should be in front, opposite the left rockshaft port.
Come to think of it though, That limitation would be important to anyone planning to add a loader to a wd or wd45. These old loaders off and look like they should plug right into the remote, but this valve won't run it off the remote properly.

A selector valve can be used to control the direction of movement of a hydraulic actuating cylinder or similar device. It provides for the simultaneous flow of hydraulic fluid both into and out of the unit. ... A closed-center selector valve blocks the flow of fluid through the valve when it is in the NEUTRAL or OFF position. To hook up a hydraulic valve you will need to extend cylinder, pull handle away from valve. When the handle is released, the valve spring centers to neutral stopping cylinder. It's a pretty complicated procedure, believe me. I tried to fix it myself and I did worse ... but, fortunately, I found this site, fastplumbers.net.au, where the specialists fixed my mistake =))), installed everything properly and I have no longer any problems.

Your talking a control valve, not a selector valve. Then you would need a open center valve, not a closed center valve. MACk
