    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 at 7:16am
The power steering started acting up on our 160.  Discovered that the belt was very loose.  The pump slides out towards the frame to tighten the belt and is maxed out in the slots.  There are 4 slots with bolts and it appears to be impossible to get to 2 of the bolts.  We thought about trying to pull the pulley off the front of the pump, but not sure if it will come out and can't get a puller on it.  Otherwise we would need to disconnect all 3 hydraulic lines and try to unbolt the bracket from the frame.  They certainly didn't make this one easy to get to.  Anyone have any suggestions or advice?  Might have to tear half the tractor apart just to get a new belt on!  Thanks

When I took mine apart, there were only three of the four bolts installed and I'm going to leave out the top one closest to the frame rail when I put it back together.  I was in the process of disassembling the entire tractor at the time but I'm not looking forward to adjusting that belt after it goes back together.  If you figure out an easy way to adjust the belt, be sure to post it.  I'll do the same.

Flyer- I will keep you informed if I find a good solution.  I might use lock-tite on the 2 closest to the frame rail and make them so they slip, and then use the 2 closest to the crank pulley to actually tighten down.
