Hi all. What would be the worst case cost on getting AC working on 8010. I would assume that would be the compressor expansion tank and What else is big dollars in there. Just wondering. Was gana go look at a tractor and wanted to have price in mind. Thanks

My L2 needed a new compressor, drier, expansion valve and since I didn't have time I hired it done = ~ $1,200. That was 3 years ago.

Who is doing the work? You or a shop?
Parts and refrigerant alone could run well over a grand IF you have to replace everything. You did say worst case right.......now it is unlikely you will need to change your condenser, somewhat unlikely that you would need to change the evaporator, but entirely likely you may need to change the compressor, and consumables.
Best guess knowing nothing more than that, between 100 and 500 in parts you buy aftermarket.

Here is a picture of a 7060 that I put redid the A/C system in about 10 to 15 years ago. I used an HR6 compressor instead of the old A6 unit. I cut new brackets for it to weld on the old compressor mount plate, I think I used just 1/4 steel plate. Used the same A/C belt and location. The lines all hook up the same. I had a hose shop make up new lines and replaced the dryer. Flushed out the evaporator and condenser with brake clean. I never had to touch the system again, sold it a few years ago. I just put that compressor number into rock auto and it was only $232 there. Thats a pretty good price for a new, not reman, unit.

How much commonality is there to the AC components between 7000 and 8000 series tractors?

I just bought all the components (nothing is being reused) for a AC 7020. I think it was $1350 for lines, evaporator, condenser, compressor, dryer, sanden kit and switches.

Commonality of parts between 7000 and 8000 series ?? maybe the compressor and that's about it. Everything else is different.

Nope, the weather went down hill. We didn't make it to go look at the tractor. Thanks for all of your input, if they still have tractor and we go ill have a good idea on price to offer. Thanks
