the d17 tlb is partialy blocking my garage door and since it's running I figured what the heck I'll fire her up lift the hoe up and back it up.  yea right, hooked the pump up, fired her up, stood on the floor boards and reached back pulled the lever for the hoe and a hose blew for the swing cyclinder that was right under me. got a nice shower in hydro fluid, not much,,,, just head to toe!!!!  guess the d17 decided pee on you, it's to cold to work!LOL

I feel your pain. That stuff just leaves a bad taste in the mouth, when it gets in there. A little makes a big mess, so I can guess what yours looks like. Good luck.

that was my first thought.  at least my coat, hat, bibs, etc. are a lot more waterproof...Smile

since the machine sat for many years I planned on changing the fluids/hoses, guess that's less fluid to change...Smile

unit3, your right, it didn't taste to good...at least nobody was around to video it....

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened this thread. You never know. Some people are into weird things.

Use kitty litter to clean it up if you have a concrete floor. Then put some kerosene on it, broom it in, let it set for a while, then kitty litter again. It'll be the cleanest spot in the shop.

Many years ago was mowing with a CA and a trailing sickle bar mower.  Felt something hit me in the middle of the back....turned around and the hose to the mower had blown
and nailed me with a direct shot of hot oil.
If ignorance is bliss, than happy days are here again.

Oil baths are just so not fun. I was running a D4 knocking down some small poplars, and a trunk snuck up and clipped a street elbow on the big lift cylinder beside me. Just tipped it enough to split in on my side, without breaking it off. The blade was up, so both of the 6 x 30 cylinders had to empty and it just kept spraying into the cockpit for about 30 seconds. I wasn't there at the end, but what a mess. Threw away a good winter coat and coveralls after that.

Thus summer when I was resealing an L2 header lift cylinder and I rinsed my eyes with hydraulic oil. I was putting it back together and prying the lock ring back into the outer groove. You have to hold the rod out a half inch or so and pry back with a screw driver. I was looking in the hydraulic fitting to see what I was doing when the ram slipped and hammered home spraying what oil was left in the bottom directly in both eyes. I went the half mile home and pulled my contacts out and rinsed my eyes. Not a fun afternoon.

I was hooking up my disk to the 190, and the hose split right at the hose end, sprayed my eyes and face real good, oil was just warm, not hot. was able to call the old lady.....oooops....I mean the loving wife at work to come get me, I couldn't see anything, I don't remember it much, but must have started walking somewhere, the old lady couldn't find me at the tractor that was still running, she called the fire dept to help look for me. (still don't remember walking away) said they found me quite a ways away in a bean field. spent next 3 hours in the ER getting my eyes washed out.

wow, glad they found ya, I got sprayed in the eyes, but not were I couldn't see..things were a bit blurry.  eyes burned for a couple of days.  since I'm replacing the internal hydro hose and seals on the d14 I figured I might as well just keep wearing the same oily cloths...lol
