One of the rear lights wasn't working so I tapped on it and it flickered, tapped on it again and the rest of them quit on the back and a couple on the front, too. Guess I won't be doing any more chisel plowing after tonight, but would like to figure out if there's a fuse or circuit breaker or harness connection that went out.

You probably had a bad filament on the back light and tapping the lamp caused a short in the bulb, blowing the fuse for the rest of the lamps. Take that bulb out and check all fuses. Merely tapping on a lamp shouldn't cause any other kind of short.

general comments..
I suspect the power feed is open ( no 12 volts) as all are off. The 'tapping, now all off' seems to sujest the feed wire at the bulb may be where the rest get their power from. Or it shorted to ground and blew the fuse/ tripped the breaker. Also...check where the wires run from tractor to cab, perhaps the insulation has been worn or cut due to vibration. I like electrical problems..eazy-peezy to me... |
