OK, I just signed up for the forum. I searched and searched for the PTO lever positions and what was what. My lever is on the right side of the control counsel and it has 3 stops. The top and middle appear to be 540 and the bottom appears to be 1000. My RPM gauge has 540 and 1000 scale on it. The tractor was painted at some time and I scrapped off the pain from the PTO lever area and it had an arrow pointing forward that said engage clutch and an arrow pointing backwards saying set brake. I'M clueless. The pto is running at all times. Also I know the 3 forward levers on the top of the counsel are for hydraulics and the 3pt up and down. What are the 2 levers that rotate to the back of the tractor directly behind the hydraulic levers do. The ink is gone from the metal plate on the controls.
Thank you in advance for the information. I like the machine but it is my first real tractor.

Welcome to the forum.
Go over to the classified section and ask for a operators manual, maybe someone on here has one for sale. Lots of info in them. The two levers are depth control and traction booster. They are for your 3pt hitch. What your describing is a hydraulic controlled pto. I don't have any personal experience with that type but somebody on here will give you your answeres. Post some pictures and there's lots of knowledgeable guys to tell you all you need to know. Enjoy your new tractor |

PTO on-off-brake. Depends on which way lever was put on. MACK

Welcome to the forum. As far counter-clockwise as the lever will go is on. Middle position is off but no brake, lets your equipment come to a slow stop. All the way clockwise is off with brake. If the pto is always turning even after oil is warmed up, brake pad is wore out. Just shut tractor off to hook up implement.
If your tractor is equipped with 540/1000 option, you'll have 6 bolts and 6 empty holes around the perimeter of the actual pto shaft. Remove those bolts and stub shaft. The 1000 or 540 is on the backside. Reverse to change from one to the other. Clear as mud, right. Hope this helps a little. Leon B Mo |

Uncle always said "Fill the back of the shovel and the front will take care of itself".
