Anyone have any experience with a 9650 2 wheel drive? Has around 5000 hours with no overhaul history. I haven't seen it in person yet, but looks average to above average for its age. Tires are about 30%. Whats a decent price for these tractors? How many hours are the engine and tranny good for before overhaul? Anything in particular to inspect on these? Any experience with the 2 wheel drives? Most seem to be front wheel assist.
Thanks for the help!

Make sure there is no "buildup" on the back cylinders of the motor. These are air cooled engines. The buildup will cause those cylinders to over heat. Other than that, they are pretty bullet proof.

If you don't have Duetz experience research the nightmare you are getting into. Had a Duetz in a combine and it was not a pleasant experience.

Over the years, had a Deutz-Allis 9130, 9150, 9190, 9650, 9690, two Gleaner combines with Deutz engines, and about a dozen on irrigation wells. Had nothing but good luck with all of them. The 9130, 9150, 9650, will be some of the cheapest running tractors you have ever run.

Down here you can't hardly give one of those tractors with the Deutz engine away. Nobody wants them.

When I was a kid dealer was a mile from were I live so in turn the neighborhood had a many of them. They basically all have disappeared. Still plenty of 35 year old Deere's and a few Allis's still going strong. Next crossroad over two consecutive farms have Duetz that they abandoned. Edited by victoryallis - 25 Mar 2017 at 2:52pm |
