I was perusing the new Facebook marketplace feature and came across this little guy for $100. Well I needed another tractor like I need a hole in my head, but I did need parts for Lori's B. So I contacted the guy and talked back and forth a bit. Decided I would come up to Springfield IL to get it at the same timtime picked up the Christmas gift for the kids (also in Springfield). Anyway we pulled in yesterday and all the parts were laying on a tarp neatly in his yard. He said this is all I have found, but look around the barn and see if you can find the rest. After digging we found everything but the block, crank, cam and pistons. Went back to load everything up and noticed that I had missed that the oil pan, valve cover, and bill gear covers were cast iron. Oh, oh, oh.... It's a war B (didn't know this when I told him I'd take it) and best I can tell it has all the hard to find parts. Rubber tires though, not steels. Not too bad of a day if i don't say so myself.

Now for the rest of the story. As we finished loading everything outof the corner of my eye I noticed an orange gear in the hayloft. Drug out a ladder and it was the planter assembly for a cultivator drive gear for the wheel and all (no hoppers though). Also had the swinging drawbar laying on top. Asked him about it and bought them too for $25. Then he said hey, take a walk with me. We walked back to the fence row and found the mounted plow, cultivator, and sickle mower for it as well. I'll be going back up there to get those as well. Very friendly guy and we chatted for a bit. Told him to keep an eye on my restoration page on Facebook and he will probably see the tractor again.

We were hopping from one place to another. We left at 8:30am stopped at Dale Haymakers to pay for the 390 mower conditioner we had been talking about. Left there and stopped at Springfield and got a game table for the kids, left there and went to the north side of Springfield got this tractor. After that met a fellow up there who wanted some Oliver lawnmower parts painted (turned out it wasn't one mile from the tractor guys place) and left there and booked to Champaign to get Lori's Christmas gift (electronic keyboard) and then back home. Made it home at 10:30pm

Yes civilian war time is what I meant, not one for military use

Isn't the seal in backwards for the carrier bearing? The lip should face the "wet"side.

I think Tucker is right....open side toward the oil.

And this is the newest addition. I tried for over 20 years to buy this particular tractor only because it sat in a salvage yard and I felt sorry for it. 1942 B

Maybe the generator is just for the lights that were on it. The starter is hangin under the steering column.
