Got a cultivator my Dad bought in the 60's but never used. Will it fit on a wide front? Also I'm missing the front mounting brackets, the ones that bolt to the front of the frame that the square cross tube slips into. If someone had pictures with dimensions I could make new ones.

usually the mounts are different for wide fronts vs. narrow. and sometimes the placement of the shovels near the tires (turning purposes).

I might have a set of those brackets? Seems there was a set on one of the WD's? They may be in the vast warehouse somewhere? PM me but keep your expectations low:).

I'll write myself a note right now and when I get back up to the farm on Sunday, I'll look at mine and get some dimensions and maybe a drawing for you when I get back on Tuesday.

Dad had 4 row cultivators we used on WD 45 narrow front with power steering. No problem steering the 45. One year we put them on the WD Wide Front which didn't have power steering. The extra weight of the cultivators made a big difference on steering without the power steering. It is also a lot harder to mount the cultivators on the wide front since the front gangs have to be swiveled out far enough to clear the wide front tires. Not impossible, but it is a little bit harder job compared to a narrow front. It didn't require any different brackets for the wide front vs. narrow. I see the front brackets on eBay from time time. There are several sets on there now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALLIS-CHALMERS-WD-CULTIVATOR-BRACKETS-/302087741196?hash=item4655d51f0c:g:MnoAAOSwAuZX6bdn

Shameless, only the WD45D requires different mounting brackets for the cultivator. |

Dad gum it, got a pair on dads WD45 out in the shed. Put a clutch in her, gonna ck the hand clutch while she is there. If the doggoned old gal would show me how to post pictures, I'd be glad to post with written directions. She won't be home till after dark tonight. If my old brain will work, I'll have her or son post tomorrow. They are for a 2 row.

Couple guys PMed me but haven't gotten back to them. I need to look it all over and make sure I'm not missing more pieces. Had the manual in the pickup today, but was too busy digging taters to take time to look it over.

This is the best shot I have. The link below will show all the mounting points for the two row, the four row is the same just no front top truss bars.

Pretty interesting. I just always assumed the cultivators would only fit a narrow front. I never saw cultivators on a wide front before.

Thanks for the pic Don. I think I can about figure it out just from that. Question, do they stick below the frame to be an axle stop, so that it doesn't tilt up and hit the cultivator frame?

we never had AC front mounted cultivators, always rear mounted, but on our other brands of tractors and front mounted cultivators
we had to be careful with the positioning of the shanks under the tractor so that they wouldn't come up and poke a hole in the oil pan. I think it was a lot shorter shank for under there. but just another thing to check just in case.

Yes they will stop the axle from rotating to high if the row spacing is set at 40" or more but I have mine set at 30" and the tires will still hit the frame, so watch out for holes. lol |
