Topic: Agco paint/ hardener questionPosted: 06 Jul 2016 at 5:56pm |
|
I am getting ready to paint a 7030 and am using Agco paint. I'm wanting to buy the hardener for it, but is it an alkyd enamel or acrylic? I can't remember what I used last time I went through this and I can find any posts on it. What kind of hardener and thinner does everyone use with it? I'm thinking I used Valspar Renew hardener and either laquer thinner or naphtha thinner, but wasn't sure.

I am about 90% sure Agcos paint is enamel. Hopefully someone else will chime in! Ryan

This will really show my stupidity, but I thought all paint was enamel? Can someone explain in simple-man's terms?
Thanks!

After searching google for over an hour I finally typed the right thing in and I don't even remember what it was, but found a link to all of Agco's paint tech sheets, plus the part numbers for all of the paint colors. Here it is incase someone else needs to know.
http://www.rudolphbrosinc.com/partsguides/agcopartspaintguide.pdf Also I won't know until I actually spray it and compare, but DuPont RS562 looks to be almost an exact match to Agco's maroon paint in the rattle cans. Edited by 7060 - 06 Jul 2016 at 9:51pm |

When I was looking for the maroon codes this is what I found. I never did end up having it mixed up so take it for what it's worth;

Last time I bought some Agco paint I also got some hardener with it. It is Valspar renew low voc hardener, number REN4001. The can says 8 parts paint 1 part hardener. Just painted some wheel weights and it worked every well. I also used the appropriate reducer.

enamel reducer or acetone will work as a thinner. I would NOT use laqueer thinner. That is for laqueer paints or cleanup.

I believe anything with harder or activator in it is bad news and should only use it with a fresh air source or if you like to take a chance you can use it outside and stay upwind of the overspray. |

All of them, some worse than others. If you're painting just wear a mask, your family will thank you. |
