You might have ice in your hydraulic pump as well. Start it and keep it in neutral. And try to raise the loader with the pto on just don't move the tractor. If all looks and operates fine then your third gear could just be sticking.

im guessing its not coming out of 3rd even when shifted and trying to run 2 gears at once. pull the lever and make sure its aligned properly. may have been in 3rd when you pulled it but then reinstalled as if neutral.

I agree with CAL. My guess is you're not lined up with the side cover and forks. Pull it and try again. They easily slip when inserting and can exclude one of the gears.

Third is direct drive. For allthe other gears you need to be able to turn the rest of the gears. Heat it up and drain all the water out you still have ice in your transmition.

It sounds like it is in 3rd gear but the shifter isn't working. That can happen. The easy first fix is to pull the shift lever out and make sure the forks are all lined up which will be neutral. Put the lever back in and try it. If that doesn't fix it, you may have to remove the side cover and re align your forks to the gears.

I think you still have ice in the gears. Get some heat under it and drain everything that is in it just to be sure. Bob

My money is on the side cover forks did not enter the slide gear slots properly. I have missed the slots the first try probly 25% of the time. It is really awkward getting the forks lined up with the grooves in the slide gears. When the slide gears move freely it does not take much of a bump for them to move out of place.

When you have the cover off jack up one rear wheel and depress clutch, turn the wheel with gears in different positions to make sure everything turns freely. Then install cover and try again to turn wheel using shift lever to select each gear to insure you don't damage anything. As you go from one gear to the next the resistance will be different as the input shaft will be turning at a different speed. Keep us posted!!

I did as B26240 suggested when I reattached my shift tower to be sure I could go into all the gears. I would also suggest that you thaw out everything first. If outside throw a tarp over the tractor and put some heat under it. Even a couple of heat tapes wrapped around the transmission will work.

Thanks all for your suggestions! I pulled the side cover and discovered that the 1st - reverse fork wasn't aligned correctly. Shifts and drives great now!
