He went to the school of how to make money 101. (buy high and sell low) To get ten grand into that tractor he paid way to much for every step while he played golf.

How could you dump $10k into it? I can't imagine a list of parts that would add up to that.

So a rich guy who remembers his grandfathers old B, or who's buddy just bought an old tractor, or who has visions of going organic on his two acre spread, or maybe just on a whim, wants an Allis Chalmers B.
Lets assume this thing is "perfect". Now imagine that this guy who has a bunch of money ($10,000 is play money to some) dragged a clapped out old B into your shop and said......"I'll pay you to restore this tractor, and I want it perfect". If the engine was bad, or stuck, the tin was bad, or missing, the gearbox was full of water, the wheels were rotted, the brakes were worn out and it needed 4 new tires......what would you have to charge to make it "perfect"?
Worth it? Not to me....but I'd like a customer or two who thought that it was.

I hate to admit it, but I put nearly $10K in my C restoration. After a proper overhaul of every component and powder coating each piece, new tires, etc. It came to just under 10 grand. I knew it'd never be more than a $2000 tractor, but it's the best damn $2000 tractor this side of the Mississippi! yep, once you put that much into it, might as well keep it! you would think for $10,000, the Allis decal could be a few inches lower...

To me it looks like the owner was too big for the stock seat and he built the platform so he could move the seat back or maybe he likes to tail gate at the ball games?

Hubnut,
Your tractor is like new. And it is your priveledge to spend as much on it as you like. It turned out real nice. Some people put more in their hot rods! Or airplanes. Or pickups! Enjoy the tractor!

Lots of people around here dumping that much or more into atv's (especially the currently trendy sidexsides) then almost giving them away after a few years of thrashing them through the mud. Many rv's seem to be the same way, really expensive new, but resale value is pretty dismal. I say, if you want something and can afford it, more power to you!
