any help appreciated--bought 200 last summer-- went to bale 2nd cutting hay, PTO runs enough to make 3/4th of 1 bale then just fades away. baler stops running. Parked tractor till this spring. Local mechanic put new clutch parts in PTO last month also checked pressures with flow meter and pressure gauge. Went to bale hay last night--same thing-- stopped to let 1st bale tie and the PTO just stopped. Any suggestions before I take it back to him. THANK YOU Tom

Don Yes they still work. I've only put maybe 1 hour on the tractor since I've had it. I've thought the PD might be slow to engauge but that might just be me. the steering is ok

Steering is priority flow, it will go away last. PD and PTO are non priority flow, it sounds like the pump flow is going away when it gets warmed up real good. Flow rater might not show low flow unless oil is real warm. PD slow to engage could be indicator of low pressure/flow. I would take a hard look at the hyd pump, its not real hard to work on and wear plates and seals wont break the bank. Ya gotta do sumpthin, its no good the way it is. Good luck.

skipwelte I pulled the site up as the phone was ringing, Brett the guy that worked on the tractor was on the line he ask the same thing you did. Got to be in the pump or some valve somewhere. I read off to him your and Dons response. Another question--this thing jumps out of 3rd gear could filings get into the hydraulic system from that? I have a shop manual but it is so mixed up, pages out of order-- pictures black, it is impossiable to use. Will drop it back off to him Friday or Sat night. Thanks MUCH tom

If the hydraulic pump is weak will he steering be loose when traveling down the road? Must keep turning the wheel back and forth to keep it going in a straight line--some time the steering wheel will almost rotate 360 degrease. The tie rods and rest of the mechanical parts in the front end are not worn out.

Your steering issue is not related to the hydraulic pump. The steering cylinder needs new seals. That is the cause of constant steering wheel turning.
