Wondering how every would be doing with the current weather conditions in this country with electric vehicles? Extreme cold, power outages would the emergency vehicles and and utility trucks run out of power or would they need back up generators at their garages? Then we would need some kind of fuel for the generators? Gas? Diesel? LP?

they are gonna get us...one way or another, prolly just not as bad as we are used to. are you willing to give up the easy life now to have to do some extra things that you don't do now? most are just gonna go whole hog and let others save the planet!

hahahahahha... looks good on some, the cold that is, I wonder when CA will mandate battery operated snowplows ?? Anyone know if Foridas citris crops are history yet ?? Have any of the GW/CC crowd said WHY this 'polar vortex' is so far south ?? Years ago(3 decades+) I cut code to do the math for solar and it wasn't even close to being viable. Interesting tidbit was the amount of daytime cloud cover Ontario gets in Winter. A 'minor' factor in solar2volts systems.....one the 'greenies' never seem to SEE ! |

Liberal News service weather people have been pressing the CC Magic Button as to the Vortex Shift, seems to me is no different than any other winter weather phenomena an how Jet Streams shift due to Cold plains in Siberia or Saharan Dust Clouds being lofted higher than normal. Could be Volcanic activity can cause this as well and there are plenty of those spewing crap HIGH and WIDE.

Pretty sure it gets cold in Sweden. Banff, Alberta, earthquake, yeah that is strange. Wonder how those huge mountains formed? Surely not one plate riding up on another.

Friend in FL Panhandle was seeing temps in the mid forties this last weekend. Main body of state had temp advisories. Cold Vortex dropped all the way into Mexico.
Sahara Dust: Been a Greater number of S Pacific and Central American eruptions too. Disrupts the Pacific Ocean flows for weather. Imagine that.

A MN Senate member (State) was just in committee hearing to speak on Governors plan for MN to be carbon free as Governor wants to adopt Calif CARB rules here .
As she lives 150 miles from capital she pointed out the range of a electric vehicle would allow her to travel to meeting but not allow her to get home UNLESS she charged vehicle . Now if cold out range would be 40% of normal - and less if heater was used . So she figured from home to capital would be a 2 day trip one way and same back . So the new green SUCKS . A recent development now is GM / VOLVO is going to be putting out a FUEL CELL Class 8 truck within a year , no battery but Hydrogen fuel cell similar to the AC one built many years back . In the 1998 to 2003 period the company i worked with were building prototype fuel cells for GM , and that that time had prototype that could power a full size van with aprox 180 HP output yet be smaller than a medium size picnic cooler . |

The real kicker with fuel cells is, where do you get the hydrogen? The dream is to get the hydrogen from water. The fuel cell reaction is hydrogen plus oxygen yields electrical energy, and water forms and comes out the tailpipe. Trouble is, the energy required to split the hydrogen from the water is equal to that you get out of the fuel cell. So you could have a tank of hydrogen in your vehicle, but overall, no net energy.
If you split the hydrogen from something such as natural gas or propane, the bond isn't nearly as strong, so there's net energy. But, guess what the byproduct is....still water from the hydrogen and oxygen, but CO2 on the natural gas. Bummer. |

Here an Idiot Speaks.
Know the H2 industry and suppliers well, they delivered 99% pure H2 to our power stations for use in cooling our generators. Consumption is more by leak losses than anywhere else as H2 CANNOT be 100% contained, can be detected outside ANY container it is held in as has a small enough atomic structure to defy encapsulation. H2 CANNOT be transferred by Pipeline, it generates ANY level of Friction produced electrostatic current at anywhere near to 94% purity and BOOM 4% in air produces a explosive level to 94% in air. NOT easily handle able. Drivers that delivered our supplies used pressure differential to offload, NO PUMPS ALLOWED, they also Grounded Truck Trailer, themselves and tooling to connect or disconnect. Very HAZARDOUS to handle material. Once in a storage tank cannot be allowed to remain in Unventilated spaces as DOES LEAK from ANY container.

42 hydrogen stations
At present, the Californian Hydrogen Highway is comprised of 42 hydrogen stations with 15 in development, said Keith Malone, a spokesman for the California Fuel Cell Partnership, a public-private enterprise promoting hydrogen vehicles in California.Oct 23, 2020 Edited by steve(ill) - 17 Feb 2021 at 5:11pm |

Then go to all battery electrics, or hybrids:
My Previous Employer has Hybrid Trouble Trucks both GM and Ford ton chassis. They are NOT allowing these parked beneath or inside shelters instead are parked out away from any structures so IF do catch fire can be extinguished adequately.

When one looks at alternatives to present forms of energy there are advances and setbacks .
Iceland already uses Hydrogen as a means of transport , but it seems the use of geo- thermal energy is also accepted as a means of heating buildings, making other forms of energy and is advanced in acceptance. Here we have politicians pushing half baked and unproven forms of snake oil solutions as they have fingers in the pie of PROFIT . One has to wonder when a politician tells you what you need and then is willing to sell it to you . |

Really, though, in the Hindenberg's defense, it was filled with Hydrogen, because the US would NOT sell our helium to Germany. Our derigibles (like the Akron) were all helium... and the history of helium discovery, production, use, and economics is fascinating... so much that a 9 million cubic foot 'natural gas well' in Kansas was of big excitement, until they realized that the 'natural gas' they found, simply wouldn't burn... Little did they know, that it'd be much more useful than if it were NG...
