Does anyone know where I can buy new fenders for WD45.I have heard that some reproduction fenders are not very good.This tractor has been in the family for 63 years and I am restoring it and want it to be very nice.

Since it is a family tractor and you want it very nice, I would NOT use reproduction fenders - many are described as not restoration quality. I would try to save the ones that you have. Take them to a local body shop and they can knock out the dents and cut out the rusty spots. I do that with all of my fenders. It might cost a little more than repros, but you will have the quality that the family can enjoy for many years to come.

I'm wit' Myron there! I purchased the repro WD45 fenders for my IB years ago, and holy smokes, they looked like the ocean during a storm! My body man had more time in them getting them straighten out than if I would've had him fix the rusted out originals! I gotta nice original set of WC fenders I'm putting on the WF.

I got mine from Steiner. The fenders did have the spot welds dempled more than I liked so I smoothed then out. I'd buy them again.

I got a set through steiner for a wd i just did up. Some spot welds to smooth out but other wise they fit well and 9.5 out of 10 people wouldnt know the difference.

Never had complaints on the ones we sold. I've held them side by side and seen no difference other than the spot welds mentioned earlier. But I imagine there was some variation in that from the factory.

Well you had better luck then I did. The reproduction d17 fenders I got from stiners had some big dents that I had to fix right out of the box and they where really thin compared to the original fenders. Whatever you do keep the original fenders you might change your mind and want to fix them up. I bought the d17 fenders actually for a d15 because the d15 fenders where beyond repair I would have been building new ones from scratch and I couldn't find d15 fenders. It is a work tractor heavily modified so it doesn't bother me but for my d17 that has been in the family it will get the original fenders repaired.

I have re-pros. I don't know if they are from A&I or steiner. They were supposed to be the same gauge as the original but are not. The lip/edge isn't the same eitherand came with some dings and dents. They are certainly much better that the rotted out set I had, but are not 100% perfect. I think getting the originals repaired is a better bet if possible.

Maybe they're makin' em' a little better now, but man, the ones I had were lumpy and bumpy. The WF's fenders are beyond repair also, that's why I'm installing a set of OEM WC fenders. Even the inner fender reinforcements are bad. Stan the man, that 45' is sweeeet brother! Wow! Lookin' good!!

Thanks! Well I don't know the hours but my life was not my own for 18 months and that included every weekend and I would work an hour or two each night after work. I have to admit I was sick of working on it by the time I was done. And at some point I need to install a Reddy-sleeve on the front of the crankshaft as I can't get that darn seal to quit leaking and I've replaced the seal twice already.

Recieved my reproduction WD45 fenders yesterday, they look real good and heavy. The guy I got them from told me the 45 fenders are stamped using original gauge metal. He said the repro fenders for D17 that are available now are hand made in China with thinner metal, not very good.

My AC45 will never look like yours Stan but to get that great look you must have removed the radiator shroud & grill. How did you do it ?? Looking at it provides no clear picture. Please, anybody can pitch in on this if you have removed the radiator. Thanks.

If you want to do a real good paint job you need to strip every thing off the tractor that you can unbolt, then you need to sandblast or wire wheel all the parts and prime and paint. I have more hours in mine than i can count, between rebuilding the mechanical parts and painting, got to get done in a couple more weeks.
