In June 1983 I was service rep in Atlanta region and working for week on the Gleaner Caravan in Texas. One morning in Burkburnett, Tx while working on N7 we heard a big plane coming over us, it was like we were at the end of the Atlanta Airport runway. We looked out from under the N7 to see a 747 with the space shuttle on it's back. In a few minutes later it came back over with the wheels down for landing. It landed at Wichita Falls, Tx. I later found out that it was the Challenger. Tomorrow, January 28 is the 30yr anniversary of it's breakup on takeoff.

I remember it as well my wife was within a couple weeks of having our first child. We were up at her folks house when it happened. My mom and dad were in Florida , near Kissimmee, and they watched it happen.

I remember it as well. For some reason I didn't go to school that day and I sat in the living room and watched the replay over and over of the shuttle blowing up and footage of the crew going to the launch deck waiving to bystanders.

Just finished a grade 11 exam when JFK was shot, exhibiting at Toronto Farm show when the Challenger went down, pulling kidney beans on 911. A few years earlier was on top of the World trade center. Time does fly.

The EPA made them change formula on O-rings."Improved formula" failed and seven Americans died.Nobody ever talks about that. CAFE standards, etc.enviromentalism is great ain't it. Yeh I'm not a government fan.

Heard today was the 30th anniversary for the Challenger on the radio this morning. I instantly flashed back to when this happen...I was in forth grade and our teacher came in and told us what happen...he drew a number "7" on the chalkboard and told us all seven onboard had died...then he circled the number seven and told us the seventh member of the crew was a teacher. The class across the hall got to watch the launch live on TV during class.
