The 433 is a very durable engine. It does not have a lot of low end torque but has tones of reserve power at high idle. Don't know how it would do in a rat rod but should be cool.

we donated one to a college and they put one in a chev corvett and set a speed record for biofueled powered class for a while. They do have a balancer. If you are going to do a lot of crusin' and limit the rpm to 2500-2600 leave it in - otherwise remove it as it turns 2X the crank speed and could very well exit the oil pan. You can live with the vibration. Put a lighter flywheel on for acceleration. Turn up the pump, big injectors - AC or Bosch, run the lower compression early pistons , add an air to air intercooler plus the liquid with a separate cooler for the water and add water, alcohol, propane injection, carry a bucket to pick up spewed parts and have a unique rat rod. You could use the orange tractor theme or the Purple Power motif from the BIG AL truck engine - Lil Al ?

A 433 engine does have a balancer to help cancel the inherent vibration in all 4 cylinder 4 cycle inline engines.

I would try to run it about 1900 to 2100 they make good mounts for the Cummins the 4bt will drive you right out a truck with out them the motor I found is a 1979 so one said to run a 301 turbo on it and put more fuel to it

Somewhere around here I have an article where someone took a NEW 1979 ford truck to an Allis dealer, pulled the 400 out of it and dropped a 433 in its place. Said it pulled just as good and got extremely good milage.

That's Sam in Georgia on here. He was an old AC block man I believe. Put the 433 in, and a slide in camper, and took a trip to California and back and got like 25 mpg. |

you do not have to do anything but back out the high idle stop to go to 2800-2900... 1600-2500 is normal...you are probably not gonna run much more than that sasfely.

If you are pulling 1 out of a dozer, the later ones had heaver bottom ends than the earlier 1's. I cannot give you a serial number break or date when this was done.

Find about an '82 Ford 1/2t 2wd pickup that has came originally with 300 six with SROD transmission and 215/70 tires. the rearend will be a 9" with 2.54:1 drive ratio... run taller tires... say... 33" diameter or so, but narrow tread, and it'll hustle down the road with minimal resistance and LOW crankshaft RPM.
I'd be most worried about the A's frame... they were well-employed to contain the substantially-weaker 40hp flathead... bolting an oil-burner to that frame will be certainly destined to find any flaws fast... You are changing the front suspension, brakes, and steering, yes? |

unless it has been changed, that is an AC injector, low compression engine. Engine will be orange in color.

Here some internet post about the AC 433 diesel swaps into pickups.
This link is about a new 1979 F250 that got an AC 433I swap at AC dealership. The guy talks about its mileage going from 6-7 to 20.
This link is from this AC forum site. Lots of reading on it & some pictures. This is a site for Cummins 4bt swap information. Someone is talking about gleaner f2 433I swap. |

That is a lot newer engine than I have delt with. Should be the heaver bottom end. I have attended the Good Guys car show in Des Moines, every now and then you see one with a diesel. Good luck, don't get discouraged and give up on it. Please post pictures of your progress.

Someone has been trying to sell a 433 on the Denver Craigslist for nearly a year. Think they are down to $1800. Look under Allis.
