When I install the sediment bowl amd tighten just enough to prevent leaking I only get drips into the bowl. If I loosen the bowl a little bit fuel will flow into the bowl fine but leaks remove the bowl flow is fine. Not sure what's going on. I have replaced gasket and screen, removed the gas cap no change, no trash in stem of bowl. Any suggestions would be appreciated

your float is close
install the sediment bowl and tighten just enough to prevent leaking then take and open your drain on your carb i think you will see that the gas will move in the bowl let us know how you make out B:-) Dnoym |

What Ive ways been told is that is. Good sign! It shows that your fuel system is air tight and either when you do likeDnoym said or start cranking it you should see the bowl start to fill up. If not your line is stopped up.

Normal thing that happens. You are trapping air in the bowl with no way to escape.
Loosen the nut and let it fill, then tighten the nut again and you'll be fine. Bob

Correct info above. It is just air locked. Every time you clean out the bowl or replace the gasket or screen, it will (SHOULD) do this. Shows you that you have a good system with no leaks. After you get it back on and FINGER tight, you can start the tractor. The trapped air will go into the carb and the bowl will fill. Not a problem, actually a good thing. Shows the system doesn't have any leaks.

Thanks for the help. Opened up the drain on carb and def air in it. Let it drain for a couple of min cranked and ran great at idle. Spits, sputters and misses when under load and usually will die. Have read and heard champion plugs will sometimes cause this or is it a fuel problem still?

When you throw it from an idle to under a load try choking it. Say a quarter choke first, then a half choke until it speeds up without sputtering. If choking it helps with the spiitting and sputtering then you have a fuel issue that is most likely in the carb. If choking it doesn't help it at all then you probably have a firing or timing issue.
