Picked this up today, it appears to be a D-17 series 3 propane. The radiator and front shroud were taken off and the original owner and lost them, we have all the rest of the sheet metal. The weird thing is that on the serial #, it only says D1 and no 7, also that it does not have LP on it even though it's factory. Can anyone tell me why. Here are two pics, one of the SN and the other of the tractor. Thanks, Tom

If you want a man to be a successful farmer, give him a Allis Chalmers tractor. If you want him to be a successful mechanic, give him a John Deere

Very cool Serial Number, the "7" sure looks like it is missing, that would be an error from the factory. However there was never an "LP" at the end, so yours is exactly correct in that regard. The only place you can see a difference in S/N is on the engine serial number, if they still did that when the D series came out, others will know for sure.

Pretty sure there will be a V suffix on the engine serial number if it is the factory equipped high compression LPG engine in it.

Thanks for the info, the OO took the radiator n stuff off because it had a hole in it and sent it to be fixed, then he passed and no one went to pick it up for five years, and over that time the business that had it closed and the stuff was gone. We will keep you guys updated on it.
