I found a 4 row new idea corn planter that looks remarkable like a 7000 john Deere. Was new idea made by jd or just a similar build?
Also I seen a gleaner combine in a junk yard that had been burned, it was a smaller machine with a 4cly turbo Diesel engine. Would any one know what model it was? I'm asking bc it looks like the size machine I'd like if I get if I get to try my hand at farming in the next few years. |

It's a New Idea copy of a JD after patents ran out. Combine was likely an F2 or F3.

it was a Kinze - NI sold Kinze planters for about 2-3 years - painted orange - later it was white... If the combine has 3 straw walkers - K2 (rare to find a diesel) or as stated 4 straw walkers wide - F2/3

Kinze used JD planter units till Deere decided they were losing too much in sales to Kinze and quit supplying them. Kinze then built his own replicas of the 7000 unit, got sued and won, eventually.

At some point, New Idea planters went to rebadged White Seed Boss planters. I know they were in the early 1990's.

The only New Idea planters I have seen in this part of the country were built after Agco bought New Idea, and they were a grey 6100 white planter in several different configurations.

This one was grey I believe with white boxes, looked identical to a kinze/jd planter but was a lot cheaper. 1500 with no till colters good dry fertilize boxed hole nine yards. I know a jd around here would be 3500-4500 range for same planter (4 row).

I have a K2 diesel setting in the shed that hasn't been used for 6 or 7 years except for 2 hrs last year. I would sell it. MACK

I've seen some orange frame NI with Kinze units. I'd assumed he was asking about a gray frame NI which is a JD copy AFAIK. This article is well worth the read.
