I had planned on painting them then staking into the ground with 3' rebar through the bottom plates but rotator cuff injury(right arm of course...) has delayed that til next year. Left hand shed has been up 5 or 6 weeks and hasn't moved so I'm crossing my fingers as it's pissing down hard today ! Sheds are 9' by 12', any bigger and I'd need a permit from the city. They are 7' to the bottom chord of the trusses with 3/8" plywood walls and galv tin roofs. Each cost just under $500 with 13% taxes included.A healthy guy could make one in a day and there's very little waste. I went 7' tall as it 'looked' better and I knew the D-14s would fit underneath fine. End walls are missing to allow mounted implements, simple 8by10 poly tarps will keep most weather out.I had thought about steel bars to tie the bottom of the walls but time ran out. Hopefully come Spring they'll get painted white on the inside, dark green on the outside.By then I should have the 'shed moving adapter' for the forklift done and maybe a 'new' engine in the lift as well.
The 'Cockshutt shed'( the prototype..I didn't like so  it'll be rejigged next Spring.
Gads... I'm tired already and the Spring list is growing !!

Too bad you hadn't attached a couple 2" x 6" across the bottom, spaced so that you could park the tractor tires on them to help hold them down.

It's supposed to be very windy today, so that will be a good test.

Looking good Jay.  You can also just add a cross brace across the rear opening and that would help as good as enclosing the wall.

I seem to be getting a LOT of 'leftover rain' from that hurricane, will have to wait for 2-3-4 days to add some braces.!

Already designing modified trusses for the next one...simpler,cheaper, stronger, easier to install...

one of the "stockholders" bought 3 of them run in shelters for his horses. them ones that are made of well pipe and have the steel roofing screwed on. I told him to run sum rebar down thru them to hold them down in the winds. he said the manufactuer told him they won't blow over cuz they're to heavy to. and within the week we had a mild wind and all 3 ended up on their roofs! and since he didn't learn the first time, they ended on their roofs again from another windy day! now I see he has them pulled over next to a tree windbreak, it's blowing about 40 MPH today, maybe i'll take a drive for a laugh!

I have one of those metal car ports from Versatube that we bought about 15 years ago. it has 6 rebars about 4 ft long holding it down into the dirt, it has never blown over yet!. i'm gonna gits another one after harvest so my trucks can be inside under cover. I've also used it to cover a wagon load of grain when I didn't have time to tarp one overnight. right now they cost about $700. erected by the company on site.

Rebar isn't what I would use.  Get yourself 10 motor home tie down stakes, they are about 3-4'long, with a turn of screw thread, in the bottom, and an eye on top.  about 5/8 or 3/4 diameter.  Put 2 on each side of each shed, the middle ones can tie down 2 sheds.  They won't move...

You are sure getting a lot of suggestions "now".

I've went to a couple auctions hoping to buy one of the 21' wide carports cheap. Both brought around $800 and you had to tear down, move and put together again. And probably buy some hardware, too. For the same money you could set in a lawn chair and watch a crew.

I have a couple anchor machines for setting mobile homes. They work great for tying down sheds.

Heck I'll take suggestions anytime..already redesigning shed #5 and six for next Spring ! I had 2 of the steel tube/tarp carports but Ol Man winter 'abused' them, decided wood and tin was the way to go. Sad thing is even if I don't get around to painting these they'll probably outlive me.
I'd have preffered to build a single  5 bay 'drive shed' but that'd mean 'donating' thousands to the City for permits. This way I can tell the SOBs to fly a kite!!

Why not tie the end walls together, top and bottom.  That should really strengthen them all up.  You'd only have the two outside walls loose by themselves.
When you get them figured out, put the diagram of the plans on here.  Others could build theirs and of course everyone would add some 'improvements' to the plans.  LOL

Ted
I can't tie the 4 sheds together. 'Lovely' City of Hamilton will consider that to be ONE building and that'd cost about $2500 to keep up ! Paperwork includes building permit +-700 +% based on foot print AND having an 'engineer' stamp my plans for another $1000( has disclaimer saying bla,bla,bla....NOT responsible for the design....)
Now I can put them within an inch, even overlap them as long as they do NOT touch and I'm within building code for not needing a permit. City says a maximum of 10m2 or 108 sq. ft. before paperwork and cash come into play....

that's just the tip of the iceburg of the city hall crap we have to deal with up here....

I have run into the same thing on my storage lot in town, wanna build RV covers, but the permits and other costs will eat up 3-4 years of profit. if I put in the versa tube types, they can't tax them as a building, and that pisses them off! but do I care? I received a letter from the city that they want me to "improve" my lot (add buildings), that way they can charge more taxes! already getting charged $800 an acre per year now on taxes, with just an empty (rocked) lot with no fence yet! if/when I add a fence, the taxes will be a thousand $$$ a year! and any buildings....whew!
