Having trouble removing the shifter tower. Appears the reverse fork is holding it up. Last time I drove it it dropped into 3rd gear and I could not get it out. Any advise out there?

Remove the shift boot. Take out the snap ring and retainer. Pull out the shifter. Do not drop the pin(s) that are in the shift tower. Stick a long screwdriver or something similar down in the hole and pry the fork to the neutral position. Then reinsert the shifter. When it is in neutral the forks will make a rectangle shape that will look a little like this ---> [ 0 ]
when you have the shifter in correctly you will feel a little spring tension on it when you move it side to side. You probably have a worn shifter on the end or where the alignment pins are. Edited by irlbeck A-C'S - 19 Aug 2015 at 8:37pm |
