I have a discing/dragging job tomorrow. I decided to use my 175D with 500 loader to do the job. I didn't want the loader hanging out in front, so I took the skidsteer and removed the bucket and arms (10 minute job). I hooked up the disc from hell (you long timers here might remember pics of it on my CA with the front end up in the air LOL). Anyway, not thinking anything of it, I go to load it on my trailer. I get part way up the ramps and I hear the disc dragging on the ground, so I hit the lift lever to raise it a bit. About that time the front end points towards the sky...which surprises me. I have loaded this disc and 170D many times as well as the D17 SIV diesel without incident. So, in a state of surprise, I push in the clutch, then as the front end was dropping I am thinking front end damage so I let the clutch back out. Did an almost vertical...fortunately the disc acted as a wheelie bar...and managed to get it on the trailer. Now I remember why all my front pump 175's have loaded front tires and a set of suitcase weights on the front! Heavy disc!

wow...that does look heavy! but looks like a god one! did ya ever try backing it up on the trailer? guess would matter how tall the trailer is tho! glad it came back down straight instead of cock-eyed! you gotta be cafeful...we want ya on here for awhile yet! also good thing it was a 3-pt hook up, I had a friend go over backwards on his tractor and sandwiched him between it and the disk, he lucked out and only lost some fingers and one arm!

Yeah, I will back it on when I load it to come home. I have to do that with my bush hog....just surprised me. I guess I thought the loader frame would have added a little weight up front, but it didn't. I should have been using the hand clutch and I would have been ok, just kinda caught me by surprise. Another factor is the seat is set all the way back, so I have to stretch to reach the foot clutch. I've only ran this tractor a couple of hours, still learning its querks....

One thing I learned long ago is once I am on the trailer ramps that stopping, clutching etc and then attempting more forward movement is a no-no. You go for it and if things are not right you stop, roll back off the ramps and try again, exception being loads attached to the winch line. Most every trailer loading accident and near miss I have been involved with or witnessed has been from dumping the clutch after stopping halfway up.

A disk heavy enough to do real work. Most three point disks I've been around were too light to do real work with ground penetration, just rolled on top the ground.

You need the 14 weights from the 8070 on the front. That will hold her down. LOL At least you didn't get hurt or worse, and you can tell about it with a laugh or two.
