I know this should be in pulling section, but this will get much more traffic, and it's not only applicable to pulling. Our pulling class allows up to a 12mm A pump, and the thought of grinding the side of my block to get an A pump to fit just sickens me lol! I really don't care for Simms pumps, but it will fit nicely, and I can get 12mm plungers for it, and since they did come on AC engines, it would be allowed. I just need a little more than the Roosa can provide. I haven't seen many AC simms pumps. Do they all bolt on like the DM on a 7000 series? Or do the earlier ones bolt on with the 3 bolt pattern like the Roosa adapter? I'm thinking of building a hybrid with the AC mounting flange, and a Ford pump since they are a simple pump and governor. The AC Simms seem to have more un-needed accessories. Thanks for the input, and I am looking for a cheap core to experiment with.

I have a 301 with a simms inline pump it has an adapter to bolt it up

Really no grinding on the newer blocks ed. Just touch the lower ear on the block side of the pump with a grinder. Otherwise im thinking you will need to remove oil cooler with either pump.

removing the oil cooler is already expected. I've got that planned already, and don't see any issues there. The early block like mine, has the casting bosses for all the plugs for the main oil galley, and to fit an A pump those require extensive grinding/removal. That is what I'd like to avoid. It would almost be easier to put all my parts into a later style block.

When we hung the 1st A pump on my 210, we moved the pump out on the front cover to get around that casting so we didn't have to grind it all up. The sims that was on it first fit just fine in the factory location though.

did you use mark's front plate/cover?

We made the cover/plate ourselves but I think we might have gotten the gear from Mark. That's been a lot of years ago now. But doing it that way makes for a lot of room for lines ect. That set up is still on that tractor, just has 8000 series sheet metal on it now.

thanks for all the input guys! But, I hurt the motor last night, so now if I gotta tear it all down, I may as well look for a later style block, then I will be able to bolt on an A pump, which will be needed for the class I attempt to run lol! Might be looking for some good used pistons and sleeves, along with a 7000 series style block. Also, haven't looked at the oil cooler area on them yet, but how does one eliminate the oil cooler? Plate and then external fittings? Prolly don't need to eliminate the cooler to fit the A pump, but I don't think I have an oil cooler for that series that's any good. Wish me luck in tearing into it today. Thanks again!

Tips themselves are considerably less than the regular 4 hole tips. $25 rather than $90 bucks. Thing that costs the money is the machine work and other stuff to make them work, hold downs and return line kit.

Tips are reasonable then,, machining the body out to hold more fuel Prolly can get expensive
