I am looking at buying a 170 Gas tractor but the owner says the 3pt hitch does not work. Any ideas what the problem is and if it will be a big job to fix? The loader/remotes work fine.

What is wrong at they don't work? Do they not rise, or do they not go down?
Not rising would be very rare and fault would lie with the hydaulic valve (actually never heard of it happening). Not lowering is very common and a very easy fix by oiling up the linkage just ahead of the valve body. There is a mechanical lever there that tends to rust over time. The best fix is to take it all apart, punch out the bushing, sand off the rust and coat with anti seize. It will be good for another 40+ years. |

thanks, I am going to look at it this week. He took all the arms off, so I am guessing it was stuck in the up position.
