But without knowing the condition of the tranny and such isn't it kinda high? The muffler has a flapper on it but that's all keeping the rain out

Load that sucker on the trailer and hit the road. -- does it start? If so, double time to get it loaded. If the tires are new - they can be close to $1000 -- plus the weights -- about $1.00 per pound.

Hopefully it just has a bad lift pump on it that has been leaking into the crankcase.

Did you ask him why it was parked and if it was a gear jumper? Seems they would know why they aren't using it for that long.

Well the tractor was given to the farm by me I used to work there,
Apparently an old lady didn't want it and she gave it to him and he never did anything with it, it's been sitting there ever since so he doesn't know any history on it. And he will NOT budge on the price..

Even if you had to spend $2500 on a transmission rebuild and brakes, you still have a 175 that you paid $4500 for.  That's still cheaper than what you would find at a dealer.  You said it has 2 new tires - front or back?

Before you try to start it Loosen The Base plug and see if you don't get water if it's gotten rain water in the motor while it was sitting still not running it won't be milkey the oil will float the water will laying in the bottom until you turn the crankshaft and beat the oil and water together causing it to turn milky and if you don't buy it let me know where it's at New Jersey's less than 2 hours away never mind didn't see how old the post was last time he was on was April 17 2018
