I really like the G!
My dad was on a harvest crew when he was in high school and he drove a Gleaner G, and I always thought it'd be fun to have one! |

I watched that C with the steel wheels earlier this week, almost kick myself for not bidding, went for $470. Just parts tractor but the wheels were worth at least that much to me. Snooze, I loose!

My experience with "Big Iron" was not good. The kid posted a video of a WD-45 starting, moving forward and backing up fine. He throttled it way down and that old tractor cackled evenly and sounded really good. I bought it for a little over $1100.
When I went across the state of Iowa to pick it up, the tractor would not run, even when being pulled. The rear tire that was not shown in the video was fully dry rotted. The tractor would not steer (locked up), and the transmission had major problems. He showed me that it was the same serial number that was in the video. I had already paid for the tractor. The kid who sold it would do nothing to help me. Neither would anyone from "Big Iron" when I contacted them. I was stuck. Ended up spending thousands of dollars to restore the tractor. Well over $1000 more than it is worth. Moral: There are people out there who willingly misrepresent machinery for sale. If you can't go look at it beforehand, don't buy it. Don't do what I did. Stock boys are the ones that do Big Iron.com auctions. I have been to their auctions and have not been impressed with the way they do business. They are only located 15 miles from me and i would not do business with them. Buyer Beware when these boys are selling

I've watched the results of a lot of their auctions, their big ticket items (tractors and such) seem to bring top dollar

1terrygladys: Thanks for your post. The same thing that happened to you also happened to me. "If you can't go look at it beforehand, don't buy it. Don't do what I did."
I took a different route, as my D-14 purchase was also sold with a woods mower. I was able to use the mower, remove and repurpose the 3 point hitch and then resold the tractor at a consignment auction to essentially break even. So, really don't feel I was left out in the cold as you. However, I really agree that everyone needs to take your advise that you posted. Thanks. |

There is an R50 gleaner on big iron, and in one sentence of the description, it say that it starts, runs, drives, and operates. In the next sentence, it says; does not run, motor blown. Wonder which it is? I'd guess the latter of the two. Darrel

gosh...I've purchased quite a number of items on their auctions, and have never had a bad experience yet! lucky? guess so! i'm bidding on some items right now. but I do call the owners of the items and ask questions...I know if there is a pause or an excited quick answer, there is a flag to me! the picture taking rep should ask questions when on location and also make his own assessments too! also the office personel have always been great to deal with! I think they do have the best on-line type auctions available, better than others I've dealt with. guess it's like any other auction...you can be taken if you can't see what may be wrong on the inside! I know sometimes...it's a crap shoot! guess I've just been lucky so far!

I notice on one on-line action co that they charge a buyers premium to the buyer and they also charge the seller a percentage of the same item...they get both the seller and the buyer! pffft!
