Do kverneland plows really pull easier than other types? Has anyone tried to put a kverneland bottom on an older american plow? |

Even changing between Allis bottoms requires the whole assembly, frog, landside, shin (if used), moldboard, and plow share. Allis was careful to use the same two 9/16" (practically an odd sized) bolt for the frog to plow frame attachment. Its not an industry standard. Hanging a kverneland bottom on any other plow frame may require making more new pieces except for the plow mounting they may have copied.
Oliver plows also had a reputation for being easier to pull. And with the variety in Allis bottoms surely some pulled easier than others. Today the emphasis is on having a bottom that you can find shares to fit. Gerald J. |

Last I checked the Kverneland bottoms were about $1000 each. Stopped me in my tracks, and I went back to hunting shares for A-C plows

I have heard that about olivers. I had also heard Kv is even better. Almost impossible to find parts for some old plows.

Wiese has more parts for AC than most, but only for 387 and 390 bottoms. Not for my 392 or the popular 375, 124, 125, and the many other bottoms used with the 60, 70, and 80 plow frames. The Weise offering does not include the frog which would allow replacing the entire bottom.

There is a lot of things that can be changed. I have an AC 53 plow with Oliver Radex bottoms on it.

I was planning to go with the Oliver Radex bottoms until I found a #82 plow that had been updated to AC #375 bottoms. If I am ever lucky enough to find matching left and right Radex or AC #375 bottoms, I'll be updating my B/C two way plows.

I finally stopped trying to bolt on by old plow shares cant get the bolts half the time and getting shares locally at all is tough not many carry them any more we cheat get a share thats close who cares about the holes if you weld the share to the moldboard a few spots also alot easier to torch the welds like 5 minutes a bottom than fightin fouled up bolts that get cut any how!!!!!!! Moldboards on the other hand thay are a pain and have to be the origionals
