Good Day, this would be my first post here so please be kind if I say something stupid. I am rebuilding an Allis Chalmers IB. I noticed a hydraulic sickle bar mounted on a couple of very nicely refurbished Ib's which were on the web.

I recently found a hydraulic sickle bar for sale which had been removed from an Allis Chalmers Model 600. Will this sickle bar fit the IB or am I just dreaming.

My IB is 6 hours north at my brother's shop and the sickle is 3 hours south of my location.

I don't mind driving, I just didn't want to have a sad ending.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to be period correct, the IB would have more likely had a mechanical drive sickle bar mower, likely pitman drive.  That being said, If I were going to use one, I'd get a Triumph Hydraulic mower like the State roads departments used to use , before they changed over to flail mowers.  The more modern mowers will need an upgrade to the hydraulic pump, likely by shaft driving a pump in front of the motor.  Don't think you can drive them from the tiny system that came OEM on the IB.

A 600 is about twice the size of an IB.. Ask if the mower is a 5-6 ft length. You have enough HP, but would have to adapt mounts.. If the mower is 7 ft, you a little short on HP.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
