anyone have experiences with an agco allis st series such as the st41a for loader work. I have used a similar sized Massey 1250 with the shuttle transmission which I did like quite a bit. Thought I might get the hydro trans so the wife at least could theoretically use it. I really like orange. Would a similar kubota be a better choice. It will be my first and only new tractor so I need it to last 30 years. Buy then I wont be doing much work anyway/ .I have an agco 16 miles away, if they keep their franchise. thanks

i've got the Masey GC2300 and love that little rascel, I do stuff the reps say it can't do.
When I worked at the MF dealer we sold alot of the MF compacts and you just can't beat them, and I've work on JD, Kubota, Cub Cadet and a few others.

I'm so ticked at AGCO though I wouldn't buy anything of theres even though the ST's are Iseki built. I have a smaller ST and it's a great little tractor but I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew AGCO wasn't making orange any more.
Having said that. My ST could have came out of the same factory as the Kubota they are that similar. Mine runs at about 200 less RPM though which is good. In the larger ones, like your looking at, I'd go Kubota. My dad got one about that size this year and it's a great little tractor. I think Kubotas hydro on the larger ones is much better IMO. |

I did erase most of the good points from the listing, I was more worried about problems than what was good...

hey dad and i bought a brand new St41a with a agco loader on it to replace our skidloader. (dad is old school and couldn't adapt to it! lol) WE LOVE IT!!! Great for loader work with the shuttle shift. A little light in the rear (we use it for picking up 1200 pound bales) but we added some rear weights and it helped a lot. Ours has always blown a short lived puff of black smoke as well, dealer says that's normal for these i guess. any more questions feel free to email me!

I have a a 2003 AGCO ST-32 with loader. Look at anything you plan to buy for ease of maintenance. This ST-32 is a bear to get to anything.

Steve, Agco quit producing the ST's last year. They were a good tractor but now they are Massey's. We have been selling the Massey's for years and haven't had any problems. Never have gone into an engine or transmission. (Very few problems at all)
It sounds like the one your looking at was treated pretty hard in it's short life so far. I word be alittle afraid of it if that stuff isn't working on it now. Go for a Massey, it's the same tractor just different hood design & color. I don't like the orange going away either but not much we can do about it. We've voice our opinion's and nothings going to change there minds.

The problem of 30 years of service is not going to be reliability, its going to be support. Sad to say but most of the manufactures are dropping support of even mid 70's smaller tractors now. Seems like JD is the only one that consistently supports the old stuff. Who knows if they will in the future. There will not be the after market support for the newer tractors (except for some engine parts) as there wasn't the numbers sold to justify it. If you can swing it, it might be worth while to buy a new green tractor or kubota every few years and sell the old one. They seem to keep their value pretty well? Don't know if this is an option or not?
