What are the pros and cons of putting a CA transmission in a C tractor?

Well, the CA was quite different from the C from the torque tube back.
If your just specifically speaking of the transmission, it would be the addition of 1 gear. Other then that, differences include final drives that accommodated the hand clutch, an all new hydraulic system, the Pin Hitch/Snap Coupler/Traction Booster hitches, etc. just to name a few...

Will the PTO turn at a different speed? Would the B/C PTO housing bolt to the CA transmission? I do realize that I would have a CA serial number. The main reason for the upgrade would be the addition of a road speed gear.

I believe the PTO housing is the same but there are much more knowledgeable people on this site.

Morton said it; a CA tranny will give your C one more gear. The CA tranny was prone to wear one 3rd gear and many jump out; very expesive to fix. The B/C/CA share many parts and it is not uncommon to run into one that has had the parts interchanged. A link to a PDF file on the B/C/CA tractors below.

I may be wrong but I think the extra gear in the CA transmisson will give you 1 lower gear. I think my B will run as fast as my CA in top gear.

A post reply a few days ago addressed this topic, and revealed that top forward speed of the B is 7.8 and the CA is 11.3.

B and C is rated at 1500 rpm CA rated at 1650 rpm. CA rated with 10-24 tires B and C rated with 9-24 tires
