Just venting , no response required. I have a  B with a sediment bowel that I can't get to stop dripping even with the pet cock turned off. I have re-plumbed everything twice and even tightened the packing nut.   GERRRRAngry

Well hopefully is is not leaking because of a crack in it. We were on a tractor ride and a fellow had a leaky one on a Farmall H. It ended up it the line was cracked. Terry is right..Make sure you are using a cork gasket on the bowl. I had a rubber gasket that came on the new sediement bowl unit but it leaked...got a cork gasket and not more leak.

Those pot metal bases can get warped from over tightening the bail and will never quit leaking till you replace it or chuck it in a lathe and re-cut the seat. If it leaks when it's supposed to be shut off, it needs replacing anyway unless there is a chunk of crud in the shut-off.

When your tightening the bail on the bowl give the bowl a twist just as it seats.

My guess it is a bad metal base.  The last D 15 we worked on would not stop leaking after I cleaned out the junk in the bowl.  Two new gaskets would not stop it (tried both rubber and cork). I just happen to have a new assembly and put it on and re-using one of the just used gaskets it stopped leaking.  Then, I could  see the original metal base was out of round.

Solved the problem. In my set up the sediment bowel screws in to a male/female nipple (typical for AC  B) and the nipple screws into the tank. The sediment bowel that I have has about 3/8 in extension above the threads which if  screwing directly into the tank would stick up into the tank to keep dirt out. This extension which is part of the cast sediment bowel was bottoming out into the nipple and not allowing the threads to seal. Solution was to cut off this extension. Now it screws in tight and does not leak. Wink

The glass on my gleaner E leaked, new cork, new rubber, didnt matter. Last week I took the bail off, turned it 180, tightened it a little by hand, no more leak. 3 years of leaking, tightening with a plier, swearing, head scratching, and fixed in 30 seconds by flipping the bail! go figure, Trev.
