So me and dad are fixing up Grandpa's D19 that he baught new in 1962. He passed away in Feb and we are kicking ourselves for not
Fixing it sooner. We will be using it for farm work but me and my wife want to do a little tractor pulling with it. But we just
Found out that they wont let us pull unless it was built before 1959. So I have some other tractors to choose from
To use for tractor pulling and just to have another good running tractor around. Would a WD 45 be better or would
A Oliver super 88 diesel for pulling? Both Are needing $1000 dollars worth of repairs or tires. What do you
Guys think?

Diesel would cost more if you have any engine trouble, but I would go for the diesel. We have a couple here that are turned up and pull great! 45 would be cheaper. What class would you pull in and I guess you got to see what the competation is also.

Have fun!

Take care, Darryl

If they won't let you pull with it because of it's age, then you'll either have to pull with some other group, or with a different machine... I wouldn't let that stop me from fixing up the D19. Git'r fixed up, and then find some other machine to use for the pulling-project. Doesn't matter what you use, as long as the group's rules allow it, AND you have fun doing it.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

We will fix up the d19 no matter what. Gpa baught it new and we already got it bout half
done. The 88 needs new tires all the way around and a clutch but it runs. The wd-45 was my great grandfathers and has 6 year old tires but needs engine rebuilt. I guess I will work on both but my wife really wants me to get a hobby like tractor pulling. How turned up are thoses 88's? don't know what division I would pull but I think I would go Stock the first year.

Thanks!
