Looking for some information about the C2 Gleaner combine.  How much does it weigh with a 12 foot header?  How big is the fuel tank for the AC 6 cyl gas engine?  Ball park idea of fuel comsumption when combining average oats on flat ground?  What is maximum road speed on paved roads for going between fields?  Thanks for any  experience or information you can provide.

Not what you ask but my A2(230 gas) could burn the tank(40gal) out in 8+ hrs shelling (3-330) corn. It weighed around 8500 W/O heads(I think). A C2 is basically just wider so a little more?

Traded my C2 in 79 so memory isn't great, was about 18 to 20mph on the road, faster than the M2 I got, don't know hp but was enough, fuel consumption, I could run all day in wheat so probably 10 to 12 hours,

I saved 2 CII's from the scrappers. Always shedded and both are running now , one pickup head, one straight cut head, one 430 corn head, Skid of new belts, cylinder bars, compete cylinders, bearings, etc., etc.  $500. Hope to combine some wheat this year.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

My dad had a CII that made it's way to Iowa from rice country, complete with rice tires.  He said it had an extra transmission and would go down the road like a raped ape.

He started out with the 262 diesel, but when that head cracked he ended up with a Chevy 350 and said the fuel tank wasn't big enough.  And all the neighbors could tell where you were by listening.
The innovators offer what others will imitate.

Confused I'm new here, guys, and am lookng for a pic of the Gleaner C/ CII.  We have located a farm fresh Gleaner, but can't locate the ID plate to make sure what we've got.  The fuel
tank looks like the 'bullet' from  a C.  It's got a two row corn head.
Thanks

My uncle and I bought a 68 CII, and I drove it the twenty miles home. The dealer, Howard Kessler @ Brook, In. told us it had the higher speed transmission in it and to be careful driving it. Well, I started out of that small town and after about a mile or two at half speed, I got brave(another word used just before reality sets in) and shoved the speed lever all the way forward. Nice stretch of highway with no traffic, right, and I was anxious to pick corn with it! Everything was fine until about another mile down the road when I hit a good sized bump. Have you ever experienced driving a combine balanced on the two drive wheels? It's an exhilirating(another word meaning scary as the devil) feeling! I knew I had to slow down, but the problem was that I didn't want to finish tipping it over on the corn head, which I had raised all the way up. So I didn't think I should slow it down quickly, nor drop the head. 'Nother words, I was scared just what to do!!! I slowed it down gradually and it dropped back on the rear wheels, and I proceeded to drive several miles at half speed. When we got it home the first thing I did was to find some wheel weights to chain to the rear axle. And that's how you gain lasting impressions!
But I loved that machine as much as I loved my 78 LII, and wished I had it back now!
You don't really have to be smart if you know who is!
