I have to ask ...why?
Do you KNOW what was done INSIDE and out to the WD45 ? A 'full' restoration should mean everything was gone over,nuts,bolts,bearings,springs,tin,etc. To 'some' a quick $200 spray paint job is a 'full' restoration.
Are you going to use the tractor ? A D-14 has an 8 speed tranny,'semi-live' PTO unlike the WD45.Though I'm not a WD45 guy , it seems to me the D-14 may be an overall better tractor,others will reply.Depending on your use it may be fine.
 
What condition is your D-14 in? I've got 3 in 'working clothes' and would rather have them than one showroom 'trailer queen'.Mine have to work here so I can't afford to toss a huge pile of coins into a 'pretty tractor'.
 
Is the trade an even swap ? What do tractors go for in your neck of the woods?
What implements do you use?
Is your D-14 setup for S-C or 3point stuff?
What's the WD45 setup for?
I could ask a dozen more questions but let's here what some WD45 guys have to say.

WD45's have live PTO and hydraulics with the hand clutch same as the 14.
 A little more for power but less choices for ground speed.

bad idea. keep the 14. what can you do without spin out rims? trailer queen, belt pulley work? 14 uses considerabley less fuel. better operating platform and much easier to mount and dismount. power director is wonderful.
45 weighs more, has more torque and hp. if you are farming 100 acres plus of heavy work and need a mainline tractor go with the 45. if you are playing around stick with the 14.

Which one you like better? They both will just about do the same thing. I however would never let my WD45 go for a D14.

I am use to the way you mount and dismount a WD45 so it feels kind of hard to get on my neighbors D14. For sure more power and weight with the WD45. WD45 was extremely popular...parts are easy to get. D14 wasn't around long before it got replaced. D14 has expensive 26 inch rear tires unless you go to 28 inch wheels and tires. Aftermarket hitches are available that let you use 3pt or sc implements with WD45. I got one from Tonys...great investment.

If I was looking at getting a WD45 all fixed up....not having spin out wheels would be a big drawback for me. I would possibly ask if I could buy the tractor for a lower price without them and get spin outs for it.

Pretty tractors can work also. Depends on the owner. Just because you use it doesn't mean you are going to mess up the paint job unless your running under tree limbs. Any tractor of mine no matter how much money I put into it is going to be put to work.

That 45 is not a full restoration if it is missing the spin out rims.  I'd keep the 14 in a heartbeat.

I have several of both. If I am out pulling a disc or plowing all day long,  a 45 does fine assuming fuel consumption is not a big deal. Otherwise, for anything small scale and ease of use, Its not even a contest. I hop on a fourteen. There are a TON of 45's out there,  not so many fourteens, that also will come into play in the long term. I love my 45's, and they were my dad's favorite, but for me its a fourteen. Also, the weight was mentioned earlier up the thread, there was only about 400 differential between the two on claimed normal operating weight.

Never owned a D14 but I have a WD & WD45 and 3 D17's unless your D14 is a gear jumper or needs an overhaul or some other mechanical issue I think your going to be dissapointed going backward to the WD45. The 45 has more power but less operator comfort and without spinout rims less flexibility too. The 45 is a good old tractor and a lot of peoples favorite, but the D series are much closer to a modern tractor.

Unfortunately, a d-14 with good working power director kind of trumps the wd-45.  Unless your 14 is ready for the grave yard, you're much further ahead with a "D-Series".

I've got a D-14 and i wouldn't take 2 wd45s for it. Now if you are gonna hook to a sled and play, then the wd.
