Does anyone know if there is a company that makes implements for tractors with a horsepower range from 70-90? All I've been able to find is equipment requiring 150-250 horse.

Standard items at Farm&Fleet type stores. King Kutter is one brand. Thtough they may be more for 35-50 hp tractors. Otherwise there are antiques still in use.

I was thinking about the implements that one needs to do tillage. If you had 70-100 acre farm you would probably be using a 75-100 hp tractor. I have not seen any soil finishers to match that size tractor. If you want a one time pass tillage implement you need 200 + hp tractor. Seem to me the little compact tractor have any implement you want and the large tractor have a full line has well but 70-90 range is very soft on implements. The old implement will not last forever. |

Purchase a used finisher and remove the wings to make a smaller finisher then you will have spare parts for the base unit.

Sometimes the company that makes what ever tillage tool you're looking at will have a smaller version available but you won't know until you check their catalog or ask. Since the average grain farm is around 1900 acres they sell alot more large equipment but they still make the smaller stuff. The problem is the cost of the small stuff isn't always that much less. I have 160 -170hp tractors and it's getting hard to find good used equipment that I can pull.
If you are farming 75 to a 100 acres I doubt you are going to cash flow much new iron anyway. If you want to make one pass the answer is a notill planter. Edited by Dave in il - 04 Jun 2012 at 8:46am |

mid size equip ? am beginning to see the Pioneer Implement Co in Dalton,Ohio making finishers for english farmers that are of excellent quality. plows, disc's, planters. all custom made. everything that a modern amishmen would need to succeed seems to now be available to us with hydraulics or electronics if so desired. most of the planters have jd seeders.
