I got the E ready to start yesterday and when a pulled up on the crank i didn't like what i heard. Then antifreeze started running out between the head and exhoust manifold on #4. The gasket had been blown out there.
Apperantly it filled up a cylinder awile in storage I hope it is just a bad head gasket.
Question is I will not have time to pull the head for awile so i want to drain the fluids and pull the plugs and fill the cylinders with something to displace the antifreeze.
What should i put in there? WD40 comes to mind but i need alot of it.

If it were mine I would find the time to at least remove the head and get it dried out and oiled. Barring that I would drain it, pull the plug from #4 and start it up to blow it out and dry things out then pour a generopus quanitity of motor oil anc crank it over a few turns. Remember that if you have a cylinder full some it it is also in he oil pan so you need to drain the pan or at least drain the coolant from the bottom. Edited by Butch(OH) - 29 May 2012 at 7:15am |

Fred, The good news is when i take her down she will get the sleves that i got from you. and i plan to fix that oil leak.
I already have to many projects started and right now lots of paying work. I probably shouldn't take time for the show this week end But I am going to.
And i realy hate to tear her down and let it sit waiting to be put back together. This one already had that done to her before. for 35 years
And no i am not going to hire you to do it for me.
I tried to get the powers of being to change the work week to 2 days and make weekends 5 days. No luck making that happen. Edited by dave63 - 29 May 2012 at 8:25pm |
