Should it be 160 or 180 degrees? I assume the WD45's will be the same? Thanks.

160 for alcohol antifreeze, 180 for permanent antifreeze, like ethylene glycol.

I just replaced mine with a 160 thermostat. Also installed new temp gauge. The old one was 180 and after using the tractor for several days making hay,the gauge goes up to about where it always did-about 180. I wonder why some dumb a#s at AC decided to put three 1/4" bolts in thermostat housing? All three twisted off on mine.

So is the modern antifreeze you buy off the shelf, like Prestone at Wal-Mart, considered alcohol or permanent antifreeze? That's what I'll be using. NAPA has a choice of 160 or 180 degreee thermostats and I wanted to be sure I got the right one. Thanks again. |
