Jon Ischi
Blackhawk Technical College
Laboratory Technician Assistant, 2009

Quality Assurance Manager, Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion

John Ischi

An automotive assembly line worker, Jon wanted to make himself more marketable and find a new career. He chose the Lab Technician Assistant program after learning that demand in this field is expected to grow.

He appreciates the hands-on, real-world style of the technical college. "You get right into the specifics of the field you are going for, so you very quickly gain the skills," he says. Jon enjoys his work as a Quality Assurance Manager in the cheese industry.

Ok Charlie, I figured out that "Alpine slicing" must be the proper way to cut Swiss Cheese.  But what is Cheese conversion?  Like if you are out of Gouda, you can make it from cottage cheese if you have the correct skills?

Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.
From listening comes wisdom and from speaking comes repentance.
Wise men learn more from fools than fools from the wise.
