Drove the 160 mile roundtrip to a AC dealer who's mechanic has been around for over 30 yrs working on WC, WD, Etc. Allis Chalmers tractors. Had him listen to the engine in the son's 47. It developed a knock in it after we put new Head Gasket and Oil Pan gasket in it. Not right away but after a few days. The mechanic said that it could be one of several things but his theroy is that it is Carbon builup. The cylinders did have a lot of carbon on the walls of the sleeves and we did not clean those off. We did clean the top of the pistons. We didn't clean the valves and he said we probably should of. The son doesn't want to sink a lot of money in it right at this point due to his only working part time. The mechanic ( very knowledgeable and personable guy by the way) said that we adjusted the valves a little to tight though. He did say the .012 that we adjusted them to should of been .014. He said it doesn't seem like much but it makes a difference. What do you guys think about it all? Thanks. Roger
