I've needed a larger trailer for some time now and with all the hassles trying to get an AC 66 delivered here it got me thinking maybe I should just go out and get a good deck over trailer. Would a standard 102" wide x 20' trailer allow me to roll these old pull behind combines up and on them fairly easily? Anyone have pics. Of one rolled up on a 102"wide deck over?

Would be better to toe it. Don't think the wheels will set on 102" bed, plus you will be hauling overwidth. They won't say much about towing it but will about hauling it.
If you want to haul it, take the header and tongue off and put it on sideways. MACK

I have seen it done with a small wheel on a bracket that either slips on or bolts on about 18" in from one end that allows one wheel to hang over side of trailer. Works great.

A 60 and 66 All Crop WILL fit on a 102" wide trailer, I have hauled them. Both tires are not completely on the trailer but enough to tie down. The Roto Baler is also too wide to haul on even a 102" wide trailer. One of my Roto Balers has had a small wheel mounted on the frame about 2 feet inside, I have hauled it on a 96" wide trailer.

Yeah I was pretty sure I had seen it done before. I figured I would winch it on board then jack up it up a bit, take the wheels off then lower it onto a set of 4x4's and strap it down. I don't think it would be too much over and I'll take the back roads back, I see much worse stuff being hauled here by the scrappers. How powerful of a winch do yall think I'll need to get it up the ramps, I know it's 3800#'s so would I need a 4000# winch or could I get away with less. I have a 2000# winch.

Well I ended up getting a 22' pj deck over trailer with a 102" deck 3' dovetail 6' spring loaded fold down ramps and the winch bracket and roller setup. Will be going down to the south west corner of MN to pick up some registered red wattle pigs, just need to find an ac 60/66 or 72 to pull home. I am ordering a 8500# super winch for it, I'm really excited. I also have several tons of scrap from a collapsed building to take to the scrapper. Best of all I can load several pallets of pumpkins on her this fall. it'll make taking them to the stores so much easier to deal with my old trailer I could only take one at a time do to the way the rails are set up.

We used to load them crosswise on a stake body truck, remove the drawbar and the pto. Seemed to work for Long distances
Good Luck! Bill Long ps: let us know what you do |
