my d14 just stopped running it lost power it will turn over but will not start .i replaced amp meter and about 20 min later my tractor just lost power any sugestions on what i should check

First, do you have power to the coil when the key is turned on?

Sorry, but got to cover the obvious...fuel?
"...lost power..." Did the engine quit abruptly? Or did it lose power more slowly?
A coil gone bad, as CTucker said, would certainly cause the abrupt quitting thing. Check spark at the plugs?
A little more detail on the behavior of the problem would help. Smile

ya it just lost power no spark at plugs my test light barley blinks on the coil i am looking for a fusable link or fuse cannot find one .i belive coil is bad .if coil is bad can i just buy a coil at napa or auto zone or do i need to order online

I replaced the coil on my D-14 with one from NAPA; it work's fine. Make sure you get the one with the right internal resistance. If it's been converted from 6 V to 12V, it might have an external resistor. You can remove that and just replace with a coil with the proper internal resistance. It sounds to me like the problem is electrical, but I'm not totally sure. Good luck.Smile

Thanks for the info got it worked out the wire to the coil wrapped itself around the sterring shaft .every time i traced the wire it was orange but the wire around the sterring was yellow .funny thing when they repainted the tractor half the wire is orange the other half yellow .had to rewire the coil and the d14 started up .thanks for all the help

The Ignition circuit color to the coil is Yellow on the D14. Glad to hear ya found the problem. Thumbs Up
